Select and Better is the highest grade of hardwood. It has a uniform grain texture, mild colour variations are produced by differences in natural heartwood and sapwood. The face may contain unlimited sound sapwood and occasional small burls. Light brown streaks may not extend over the entire length of the piece. Occasional non-contrasting restored knots (10mm or smaller) are admitted on planks stained in dark colours as long as they do not stand out against the floor surface.
