Open splits and knots create effect of antique wood and emphasize authentic oak texture. Character grade is used to classify wide plank fixed length flooring (7 ½” x 7’ or 190mm x 2100mm); due to larger surface area, face of plank may contain a wide range and number of burls, streaks, knots, worm holes etc.
